Let's take a closer look at how tagging campaigns can benefit your dashboards and ultimately help you achieve your marketing objectives!
1) Why Is Tagging Important?
As you begin to accumulate data, it becomes crucial to have the ability to organize it in a way that best helps you analyze and make sense of it. This is how tags can be helpful! Tagging is a great way to organize data into relevant categories and sets such as Genre, Artist, Followers etc. You can assign tags to any campaign either individually, or using multiple tags to further subcategorize.
With Wavo, tagging your campaigns allows for improved reporting and provides the necessary data needed for future benchmarking analysis. When used on a consistent basis, our tagging system will provide crucial insight into the effect that each campaign has on a given metric (artist growth, spend, followers). You will receive a categorized, aggregated view which allows you to track performance on a larger scale.
2) Best Practices
When setting up tags, here are some things to keep in mind:
- Only create tags you know will be used! Unnecessary tags can create confusion and disorder.
- Avoid using several values within a tag. For example, instead of tagging a genre as Pop/Rock, use a tag for each genre.
- Keep tag names short and simple. This facilitates searching afterwards when aggregating your data.
- Be consistent with tag language. If you've created a tag for EDM, ensure there aren't redundant tags such as Electronic being used as well. This can lead to inaccurate reporting in the long term.
3) Tagging Examples & Formats
Wavo offers completely customizable tagging, allowing you to build categories that best support your marketing objectives. Additionally, you have the ability to choose between three different tag formats; Dropdown, Text and Numeric.
Some example tag categories, along with some appropriate formats, include:
- Genre (Dropdown)
- ISRC Code (Text)
- Artist Type: Frontline vs Catalog (Dropdown)
- Business Line (Dropdown)
- Spotify Followers (Numeric)
- Creative Type (Dropdown)
You can tag campaigns as you create dashboards, or in bulk using the My Campaigns tab. Additionally, you can create tags that best fit your organization's needs. For a closer look on each of these methods see: Creating Custom Tags & Bulk Tagging with "My Campaigns" in the Wavo Help Centre.
